名詞單復數同形記憶口訣
以下這些名詞單復數同形
fish 魚,deer 鹿,sheep 綿羊,works(工廠),means 手段,Swiss 瑞士人,Chinese 中國人,如：
This is a steel works.這是一家鋼鐵廠.
There are many steel works here.這兒有多家鋼鐵廠.
只有復數形式的名詞
一些名詞常以詞尾s的復數形式出現,用作復數.這些名詞所表示的是由兩個不可缺少的對應的部分組成的一個整體,“都有兩條腿”.它們是：
trousers 褲子,pants 褲子,shorts 短褲
glasses 眼鏡,compasses 圓規,scales 天平,pliers 鉗子,clips 剪子

S 叮得緊,只因兩條腿.
這些名詞都可看作復數,如：Your trousers are put on the bed.Where are my glasses?
若要表示“一條褲子”、“兩副眼鏡”,就必須用 a pair of,two pairs of 之類的短語,如：
a pair of trousers 一條褲子,two pairs of glasses 兩副眼睛
另外,有一些以s結尾的學科名詞,如 politics(政治)、mathematics(數學)、physics(物理)、phonetics(語音學)以及 news(消息)、means(手段)等,通常都當作單數看待.如：一條消息 a piece of news,數條消息 pieces of news
“某國人”的復數
“某國人”的復數有三種類型：
(1)Chinese,Japanese,Swiss 三國人單數復數同形,不需加 s;
(2)Englishman,Frenchman,Dutchman 復數要把 man 變為 men;
(3)其他各國人以 -an,-ian 收尾的均直接加 s.如：Americans,Australians,Indians 等.
巧記
中國日本和瑞士,復數不需加 s;
英國法國荷蘭人,要把 man 變成 men ;
-an,-ian 各國人,后邊直接加 s.
